Mr Nyasha Chirikure, the Midlands Deputy Provincial Elections Officer for the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC), has advised voters not to solely rely on the mobile phone platform *265# to check their registration status.
Speaking at a Provincial Multi-party liaison Committee meeting held at Gweru Government complex this Friday, Mr. Chirikure stated that the information provided through this platform is accessed from third-party network providers and may not always be up to date.
He further explained that instead of relying solely on the mobile phone platform, voters should physically visit the ZEC-provided centers to ascertain their registration status.

Responding to a Citizen Coalition for Change (CCC) member who had complained that the *265# platform was erratic and sometimes could not be accessed Mr Chirikure had this to say:
“The *265# platform works but sometimes we need to update the information, the moment you make changes with us, we also need to update the information on the platform, remember that you’re accessing the information from third party sources which are our network service providers, so I encourage you to go and physically inspect your voter registration status at our provided centers,” he explained
The Elections Officer’s clarity comes at a time when most voters were complaining that they could not find their registration details on the *265# platform.
