In an unexpected turn of events, Sheasham FC yesterday (28 November 2024) officially dissolved its executive board following a disappointing campaign that saw them miss out on promotion to the Premier Soccer League (PSL) The announcement was made by club President Clever Mandaza, whose statement has left fans and football pundits alike speculating about the potential ramifications on the coaching staff.

Mandaza expressed gratitude to the outgoing board members for their hard work and commitment during the tumultuous 2024 season. However, with a new era on the horizon, he confirmed that a fresh board lineup would be revealed shortly to steer the club into 2025.

The previous board, which included prominent names like chairperson Dr. Crispen Ngwenya, vice-chairman Tawedzerwa Mudzvoka, and secretary Pithias Shoko, had high hopes for Sheasham FC. The side was considered a strong contender for promotion from the ZIFA Central Region Soccer League but ultimately fell short, finishing a stark fifth despite substantial investments in player acquisitions

The underwhelming performance under head coach Lizwe Sweswe has led to increasing speculation surrounding his future at the club. Sources close to the Gweru-based outfit have disclosed to members of the press that Sweswe’s position is precarious and that the club is already outlining potential successors.

Names circulating as possible replacements include Lloyd Mutasa, currently at the helm of Northern region side Mwos, alongside former Kaizer Chiefs striker Luke Petros and Tendai Chikuni. Additionally, John Nyikadzino—the architect of Sheasham’s inaugural PSL appearance—has emerged as a strong candidate for a potential return.

As the dust settles on the board’s dissolution, the spotlight remains firmly on Sweswe, with fans eagerly awaiting further developments regarding the club’s new leadership structure and the coaching direction. The coming days promise to be pivotal in determining Sheasham FC’s path moving forward.
