GWERU – Chaos ensued at a local bank in Gweru last Friday when three cunning criminals swindled a vulnerable bank teller out of a whopping $4,500.
The audacious thieves took advantage of the teller’s distraction, claiming they were on a remarkable quest for US$100.00 notes adorned with dazzling stars.
The incident occurred on January 12, 2024, around 2:50 pm at an undisclosed bank in Gweru Central Business District,the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed
Reports suggest that the dexterous trio managed to siphon the cash while the deeply engaged tailor was eagerly scouring the bank’s premises, determined to meet their peculiar request.
The teller was so caught up in finding these ‘star-studded’ bills that he failed to notice the cunning crooks sneaking away with a small fortune.
In another baffling case of theft, the Bulawayo Police are currently investigating an audacious heist that occurred on the same date in the quiet suburbs of Heyman Road. Unknown perpetrators meticulously executed a plan and stealthily ransacked a victim’s home, making off with a jaw-dropping sum of $6,000.00.
The cash, allegedly tucked securely under the victim’s bed, vanished into thin air, leaving the astounded homeowner spellbound. “It’s like a scene from a Hollywood movie,” muttered a neighbor in disbelief. “Who would expect such high-stakes intrigue in our humble neighborhood?”
Authorities have issued a public appeal for any information that could shed light on these diabolical acts of thievery. They urge citizens to report any suspicious activity related to the cases to their nearest police station, guaranteeing complete confidentiality for tipsters.
