Three masked men robbed a Mukuru Money Transfer Agent Company shop in Mkoba 6 business centre, Gweru, making off with a staggering sum of $21,544 USD and 14,400 South African Rand, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said on Wednesday.

The incident occurred around 7:30 AM on June 19th as the company’s employees, Munyaradzi Nhuruza (35) and Lincoln Nyachowa (33), arrived at their workplace, according to Midlands Police Spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko.

“One of the men allegedly went on to drag Lincoln Nyachowa and force marched him towards the safe where his colleague was counting money,” Inspector Mahoko reported. “One of the intruders produced a pistol, ordering the two employees to surrender all the money they were counting and open the safe. They also ordered the complainants to lie down and robbed them of the above-mentioned amount of money.”

After committing the offence, the suspects fled the scene.

The ZRP has launched a full investigation into the incident and is appealing to the public for any information that could lead to the apprehension of the culprits.

“A report was made at ZRP Mkoba, and we are appealing to members of the public who might have knowledge of these culprits to inform any Police station,” the Inspector added.

This brazen daylight robbery has sent shockwaves through the Gweru community, leaving residents and business owners alike concerned about the safety of their establishments.

The ZRP has assured the public that they are doing everything in their power to bring the perpetrators to justice and restore a sense of security in the area.
