KWEKWE, Zimbabwe – In a commendable step toward bolstering educational infrastructure, the government has lauded the invaluable contributions of private stakeholders in the establishment of the newly constructed Chana B Primary School in the Mbizo high-density suburbs. This initiative exemplifies the effective collaboration that has significantly enhanced educational accessibility in the region.
During the recent assessment tour, local officials highlighted the positive impact of the Second Republic’s educational reforms, which aim to cultivate a robust system capable of meeting the demands of a growing population. The vision underscores a commitment to exhibit innovative learning facilities across the country, aiming to modernize and uplift communities through quality education.
“Chana B Primary School has emerged as a vital resource for the Mbizo community, providing much-needed educational opportunities and addressing previous overcrowding issues at Chana A Primary School,” remarked community members, who expressed gratitude for the improved access and reduced travel distances for students. Prior to the school’s establishment, families were forced to send their children to schools far from their homes, resulting in notable recruitment challenges.

Mrs. Shumirai Manamike, headmistress of Chana B Primary School, shared insights into the school’s current dynamics. “We have enrolled 824 learners from ECD A to Grade Seven. The increase in enrollment highlights our need for more classrooms, as we are already practicing a hot seating system due to space constraints,” she said. She further noted that with plans to expand educational offerings, including fishing and agriculture projects in the curriculum, the future looks promising despite current challenges.
Mr. Vimbainashe Mupereri, a key stakeholder in the school’s establishment, reiterated the community’s need for enhanced educational facilities. “The concerns raised by parents about the distance and access to quality education propelled us to act. In five years, we aspire to develop this school further, potentially establishing a secondary school nearby to cater to our growing population,” he stated.
The government’s commitment to the 5.0 educational model—and, subsequently, to the improvement of education for all citizens by 2030—has been evident in recent developments. Hon. Owen Ncube, Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution in the Midlands Province, emphasized this vision during his visit. “Chana B Primary School epitomizes our government’s dedication to modernizing the educational landscape and making quality education accessible for all,” he asserted.
The investment from government devolution funds and partnerships has reportedly exceeded USD 200,000, a figure expected to grow as the school gears up for its official opening. The establishment of Chana B Primary School is not only a milestone for the Mbizo community but also a testament to the collective efforts aimed at enhancing educational outcomes across Zimbabwe. As the school continues to evolve, it stands poised to play a crucial role in shaping the future of its learners
