In a supercharged campaign rally in Gweru Urban, Citizens Coalition For Change (CCC) candidate Josiah Makombe has promised to deliver a whopping 25,000 votes for CCC and Party President,  Nelson Chamisa in the upcoming elections.

The Alderman’s promise, in arithmetic terms conotes that, his political rivals will only have 1000 votes to share since the constituency has a total of 26000 registered voters, according to the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC).

Speaking at a rally held at Senga area 2 open space this Sunday, Makombe who is a former Gweru mayor said all other candidates will share the spoils of a thousand votes while his party will bag the majority vote.

“Today I promise President Nelson Chamisa 25000 votes, I know Gweru has 26 000 registered voters; however all the other parties will only get a thousand votes from this election” he said.

Makombe also spoke about his experience in local government issues, saying he was the best candidate to represent the people of Gweru Urban in Parliament.

“I have been in the trenches of local government for years, and I know the challenges that our city faces. From roads that resemble a lunar landscape to sewer pipes that can only be described as ticking time bombs, Gweru needs a champion who can bring change,” said Makombe.

He went on to promise that, if elected, he would push for the change of local government policy and bring about development, roads rehabilitation, improved sewer and water reticulation, housing and amenities. Makombe also pledged to tackle Gweru’s persistent water woes from a policy framework stance, saying that he would work tirelessly to ensure that every resident had access to clean and safe drinking water.

“Our people have been suffering for too long, and it’s time for change. I’m ready to roll up my sleeves and work hard for the people of Gweru Urban. I promise to be a representative who listens to the people, stands up for their rights, and fights for their future,” he concluded.

With Makombe’s bold promises and extensive experience in local government, CCC supporters have high hopes that he will deliver the change that Gweru desperately needs.

The race for Gweru Urban promises to be a fierce one, with Makombe and his party facing tough competition from other candidates. However, if his campaign rally is any indication, Makombe is more than ready for the challenge.
