CCC Bulawayo Dozen back on the Ballot

By Kelvin Kasiwulaya

The Supreme Court has cleared 12 Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) parliamentary candidates to contest in the upcoming general election slated for 23 August 2023.

This development comes after CCC made an appeal to the Supreme Court, seeking to overturn a High Court judgement handed down by Justice Bongani Ndlovu which had initially removed the Bulawayo dozen from the ballot.

The Bulawayo Dozen were being accused of flaunting electoral rules by handing in their nomination papers well after the prescribed time, which is 4pm.

Speaking to Journalists after the Supreme Court victory, CCC National Spokesperson Fadzai Mahere said the 12 shouldn’t have been barred from contesting as MPs in the first place hence there was no need to celebrate.

“As CCC Zimbabwe you we don’t celebrate because they should have never been removed in the first place”

Mahere also said Zimbabweans must now “speak decisively” in general elections on August 23.
