In a notable achievement for the local education sector, B&P Study Centre has been nominated for this year’s Kariba Hurungwe Media and Business Awards.

The ceremony will take place in Kariba, celebrating contributions to education and community development.

This nomination highlights the Centre’s commitment to enhancing educational infrastructure in Zimbabwe.

B&P Study Centre, located in Batonga, has recently constructed a state-of-the-art primary school featuring four classrooms specifically designed for Early Childhood Development (ECD) pupils.

This modern facility, built on a generous four-hectare plot, reflects the Centre’s dedication to providing quality education in a region experiencing significant population growth.

The expansion of B&P Study Centre doesn’t stop in Batonga. The organization also operates a high school in Zengeza and a boarding primary school in Seke.

In response to Kariba’s growing population—from 35,000 to 50,000 residents—B&P is planning to build a new boarding and day school on an additional four-hectare site in Kariba.

During a recent visit to the Batonga school, B&P’s director, Mr. Bigboy Gawa, emphasized the importance of private sector involvement in education.

He stated that it is essential for private players to complement government efforts in providing adequate teaching and learning facilities, particularly in areas facing school shortages.

“The reason behind establishing the school was that the population of Kariba is growing,” Gawa explained. “Therefore, there is a need for us as private players to establish social institutions like this school so that the community has access to quality education.”

Gawa, a proud indigenous local, further pointed out that reliance on donor funds is becoming outdated. He affirmed support for the presidential mantra, “nyika inovakwa nevene vayo,” which translates to “the country is built by its own people.”

This sentiment reflects a growing movement towards self-sufficiency and community-driven development in Zimbabwe.

As B&P Study Centre prepares for the awards ceremony, its achievements serve as a beacon of hope and a model for other private entities looking to make a positive impact in their communities.

The story of B&P is not just about education; it’s about empowering a community to build a brighter future for its children.
