Arsonists strike Again: 5 homes burnt in Shurugwi’s Mahove village

All is not well Shurugwi’s Mahove village, where 5 homes were recently burnt by two suspected arsonists.

The henious act comes barely a month after 10 homes in the same village were burnt by two ex-convicts Edison Madhuveko and Edwin Madhuveko.

Mahove Shepherd (48) and Lookout Chigariro (65), Tendai Mudzana (65) had their homes burnt when they had attended a ZANU -PF rally at Tongogara  growth point.

Mahove was informed whilst at the rally that his two huts were burnt.

One hut had kitchen utensils and groceries worth $US 50 and the other hut  had 2 sleeping beds, 45 IBR roofing sheets valued at US$900, 2 door frames worth $US 50 and clothes valued at $US 80.

As for lookout Chigariro,his two huts were burnt but no property was lost as all things were retrieved

For Tendai Mudzana, the house that was burnt belonged to her son in law, soon after the rally she arrived home and saw that her inlaw’s the hut had been set ablaze, the value of destroyed property is yet to be assessed.

Both victims reported the matter to the police.

Shurugwi police have since arrested Robert Mahara and Eddie Mbizha in connection with the incident that occured in the wee hours of 19 August 2023.

Investigations are still underway to get to the root cause and the motive behind the continued arson on homes in Mahove Village…more details to follow
