Gweru — Upenyu Kudzai Dube, CEO of Dultrut Roofing, has been honoured with the Megafest Diamond Award for Director of the Year 2024, recognizing his outstanding leadership in transforming the roofing industry in Zimbabwe. The award celebrates not only his individual accomplishments but also the collective effort of his team, whose dedication has propelled Dultrut Roofing to the forefront of innovation and excellence.
“This recognition is a testament to the incredible passion, teamwork, and commitment of the Dultrut Roofing family,” Dube said during his acceptance speech. “It reflects the hard work of every individual who has contributed to our mission of delivering sustainable, high-quality roofing solutions to our customers.”
Meeting Local Needs with Tailored Solutions
Established in 2019, Dultrut Roofing revolutionised the roofing sector in Zimbabwe by becoming the first company in the Midlands to manufacture customised roofing sheets. For decades, architects, builders, and homeowners were forced to use standardised sheets that often failed to match unique construction designs. Dultrut Roofing’s innovative approach allows clients to design roofing solutions tailored to their needs, a game-changer for the industry.
The company utilises six advanced roll-forming machines capable of producing roofing sheets of any length, customised to fit architectural requirements. The process ensures precision and efficiency, operating at speeds of up to 600 feet per minute. “This method guarantees the right configuration while maintaining material integrity, enabling us to meet large-scale demands,” Dube explained.
A Growing Impact Across Zimbabwe
Dultrut Roofing’s influence extends beyond its manufacturing facilities in Gweru. The company has supplied roofing solutions to significant projects, including Dambudzo Secondary School, Kudzanai Bus Terminus, and countless residential properties in areas such as Shurugwi, Zvishavane, and Mberengwa. Its services have reduced reliance on roofing imports from Harare, creating a more accessible and affordable local alternative.
“Our goal has always been to serve the communities in the Midlands Province and beyond by providing top-quality products without the logistical and financial strain of sourcing from far away,” Dube said.
Commitment to Excellence and Economic Growth
Dultrut Roofing’s success is grounded in its commitment to quality. Guided by ISO 9000:2015 standards, the company has won numerous accolades, including the 2021 Zimbabwe Chamber of Commerce Innovation Award. As a regular participant in the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF), Dultrut Roofing showcases its cutting-edge capabilities to a broader audience, solidifying its reputation as a leader in the industry.
The company’s work aligns with Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s vision of achieving an upper middle-income economy by 2030. By fostering innovation and local production, Dultrut Roofing is contributing to the nation’s industrialisation and modernisation goals.
A Vision for the Future
As Dube reflects on this latest recognition, he is optimistic about the future. “This award inspires us to push further, innovate more, and continue making a meaningful impact,” he said. “We are not just building roofs; we are building a stronger, more sustainable Zimbabwe.”
With its focus on excellence, innovation, and community impact, Dultrut Roofing is setting a new standard for the construction industry in Zimbabwe and beyond.
